1. What kind of computers, dictation hardware and software are incorporated in the
"reconditioned UnBabelizer" call-in systems?
All '"UnBabelizer" system computers are either new or reconditioned by Computer Circulation, Inc. to new specs. The dictation cards are made by VoiceIQ of Toronto, Canada and record directly in TrueSpeech file format (very small file size for fast transfer over the Internet, no time-consuming file conversion needed). Each card has one phone line port and an auxillary port to test w/o using an active phone line. All voice files management software came installed with original PC-DART systems and has been upgraded to the latest versions.
Setting Up a Call-in Dictation System (FAQ) Questons:
2. How do I know how many phone lines I will need so doctors don't get busy signals?
The most important information to get is how and when do your doctors dictate! If most see a patient, then pick up the phone, call in and dictate a short report (2-4 minutes) and then hang up, you will be able to get by with fewer phone lines. However, if you have several doctors that save up patient folders and call in at noon or 4:30 pm before going home, you will need more phone lines and a larger system. Thus if you have three doctors camped on three lines of a four line system dictating for 30 - 45 minutes each, only one other doctor can call in before the next doctor will get a busy signal. As a general rule of thumb, for every four doctors you have calling in reguarly, add one dictation port to your system..
