Yes. The recording software of these PC-DART-based (TrueSpeech format) uses DMA (Direct Memory Access) channels (4) to open and close the doctor's voice file every 8 seconds. the advavngae of this is that is the voice processor computer ever gets shut down with out the doctor either hanging up or signing off the report as complete, when the doctor calls in the next time, this prompt will be heard: "Dictation pending, end of file." The doctor can press the Reverse key, listen to what was recorded and saved and then finish up the report without having to redictate the entire report. Also, using the DMA technology keeps CPU resource usage toa minimum (>5%).
------------------
These dictation cards also have AUX (auxillary) telephone jacks (with their own DC power source) that allows phones to be plugged directly into the card without using actual telephone lines/numbers in the office. Why? Using this feature, dictation can be recorded without using any of an office's actual telephone numbers, saving costs. "Dictation Stations" can be set up on doctor's desks and RJ-11 phone cords connected to them can be run up over drop ceilings and down into the "DeBabelizer" system where they are plugged into the AUX jacks. Also, when trouble shooting problems, telephone line problems can be isolated from computer/system problems by using the AUX jacks. With a phone connected directly into the AUX jack, if youo can hear all the prompts, leave a test dictation and hang up without incident, then the problem is with the phone company! (Over 75% of dictation system problems over the years are related to telephone company roll over, hunt group or configuration/static problems)

3. How do I know when it is time to add more phone lines to my system?

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions (Continued)
IMPORTANT! You will always need to set up your dedicated call-in dictation phone lines with a "hunt group roll-over" feature. (Ask your phone company for details.) Call-in numbers are set up in a "pick up" sequence. Thus if the first number is busy, the second number picks up and so on. This will let you monitor the usage of each phone line going into the system each day. Thus if you see "Hang Up" in each of the four channel status boxes on the voice processor screens, it means that at some time during the day, all four lines were in use at the same time. It also means that the next doctor calling in would get a busy signal. ( I suggest that if you see, say, three lines of a four line system in use at the same time, you may want to consider adding an additional line to your "ReBabelizer".)
4. How do I play and send voice files to my transcriptionists working at home?
Each system comes with PlayAll Xtra installed on the Windows voice management workstation. This is the player software that lets you listen to the voice files through a headset or speakers connected to the Windows workstation. A second Windows hard drive is include as back up in case of drive failure and includes PlayAll Xtra. If another PlayAll is needed for a laptop orseparte wordprocessing computer in the office, a CD is available for $59.95 w/o foot pedal, $99.95 w/USB. StartStop, ByteScribe and GearPlayer WAV players will also recognize and play VoiceIQ TrueSpeech file format. Also recommended is having an A/B/C/D switch box so only one monitor/keyboard and mouse can be used to view and run up to four workstations. ( This helps cuts down on the "spaghetti and rectangles" on your desk!) Also included with the system are two FTP file transfer programs. One, WS_FTP, lets you add/remove transcriptionists folders and move encrypted voice files from one to anotherfolder when needed and the other uses scripts that run AUTOMATICALLY every few minutes to encrypt and upload voice files to the FTPsite to cut down micromanagement.
5. What are the advantages, disadvantages of limit of four lines per voice processor?
To make it fast and easy to upgrade your system, an upgraded voice processor is sent to customers with the additional card(s) installed. The customer disconnects the current voice processor and swaps it with the upgrade. When the upgrade unit is working, the original is sent back as a trade in. New card with Installation labor charges apply ($295.00 per card plus $100.00 setup of the upgrade unit and shipping at cost). If a second workstation is required (no unit to return because the additional workstation is required with the 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th dictation cards), cost is $215.00 for the pentium computer and $295.00 for each additional dictation card. .
7. How much will it cost to add dictation cards to my system?
6. Do the TrueSpeech cards have features not found in other dictation Systems?
Most call-in systems use either Dialogic of Rhetorex dictation cards. These cards usually have four phone line ports in each and record in PCM file format (up to 14.4 MB per hour of doctor's voice). VoiceIQ cards have only one phone port per card but record in TrueSpeech file format (only 3.6 MB per hour of doctor's voice for fastest Internet file transfer!). Advantage of having four ports per card: allows more phone lines into one workstation with up to three or four cards (12 - 16 ports). Disadvantage: if the workstation fails due to motherboard short, power supply shut down or if a card or cards fail, this call is system is down completely and no doctors can call in!
-------------------
One phone line port per card - disadvantage: only four cards can fit into one workstation thus one workstation is required for each set of up to four ports. Advantage: if one card fails only one phone line will not work and if one workstation fails completely, the other workstation is still recording reports while the other failed workstation is being replaced!. (Also, the VoiceIQ cards use DMA - Direct Memory Access - channels to record voice files which ony use minimal CPU resources; the voice file is also opened and closed every 8 seconds so should the Voice Processor ever be shut down for any reason while a doctor is dictating, only the last 8 seconds of the report in-progress will be lost so when the doctor calls back, the prompt says: "Dictation pending, end of file."
